1. A click on the link 'Document' above will provide you with a list of online-newspapers. Select two newspapers in your target language as well as in your mother tongue. Focus on information that these newspapers provide about the latest news.
2. Make a list of the headlines that appear on the front page of a newspaper from your country and of a newspaper in your target language. In each of the newspapers, find an article that deals with the same, specific issue or event. Work with a word-processor like 'Word' or 'Notebook' to gather information. Use the COPY-PASTE functions to transfer the information from the Internet to your document.
3. Compare the information about the latest news that the newspapers present in your own country and in the target country. Base your observations on the following questions:

a. Do the headlines refer to the same event?
b. Is the importance that is attached to this event/issue the same in both articles? Compare the articles and base your observations on the following aspects:
hierarchy of information
layout
style of journalism
titles
illustrations.
c. Is the event/issue perceived in the same way in both newspapers? Are there differences? Why? Draw your own conclusions.

4. Discuss the questions above and share your findings with your colleagues. During the discussion, reflect upon the following points: ...

- What might be possible reasons for these differences?

5. Use the forum to discuss your findings with a native speaker from the country you chose for the activity. Tell him your conclusions or/and ask questions about issues that impressed or surprised you, and find out how a native speaker would react to your observations and what he thinks. You can also read what other colleagues have written and contribute to their discussion thread.
