For those who aim at putting both constructivist theory into practice, and taking learners' preferences into consideration, implementing optional support is recommended. What has to be remembered is that help should never represent an additional cognitive load, especially for learners with little pre-knowledge.
Therefore, the best solution seems to be optional support, which is both easy to use and understand.
